Dear Friends,

November passed quickly and quietly. In this update we focus on the 2nd NFSI Workshop in Marine Seismology to be held May 22-26, 2023. The scope of the workshop is to provide hands-on training in marine seismology including BOBS instrument deployment/recovery, location on the seafloor, data collection, data processing, and survey planning. The BOBS training at sea will be done from a small boat located in New Harbour, a picturesque little cove some 75 km south from Halifax, so that the workshop participants can see a bit of rural Nova Scotia countryside (see photos below). So far, we received 26 expressions of interest after our first call last month. Taking into account the NFSI staff, organizers, and invited speakers there are currently 33 people that are interested to attend and we will likely need to cap the number of participants at 40 or so. If you are interested, please don't wait to express interest. We are planning to open registration later in January and priority for registration will be given to those that have expressed interest. Here is the link to the 2023 NFSI Workshop in Marine Seismology Call for Interest form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/136Kijpv2idf18Ot8I-C0oknE_pEAMeA0QdEL1AyWE2Y/edit?ts=635c0211. The form has a link to the preliminary workshop program. This call for expression of interest will close at the end of January 15, 2023.

Best,

Mladen, Graeme and Pascal
